Lost Animals

Adoption Questionnaire

If you have lost your pet:

1.  Contact animal control in your area! . Animal control may have picked him/her up or some kind person may have found your pet and turned him/her in.  (Call your municipality to find out who handles the animal control in your community.)

2.  File a lost report!  If your local animal control does not have your pet, in most instances you will be asked to file a lost report.  In the event that Animal Control finds him/her, they will have the necessary information to reunite you with your pet!  (Providing a piture would also be helpful.)

3. Place posters in the area where your pet went missing!   Posters can be helpful (and posters with pictures even better!)  There is lost pet poster template on the Humane Society of Canada's web site.

4.  Keep looking!  Pets have been known to return home after very long absences.  Don't give up.

Restigouche County S.P.C.A. handles the animal control for the following areas:  Village of Atholville, Village of Balmoral, Village of Belledune, City of Campbellton,Village of Charlo, Town of Dalhousie, Pointe ala Croix, Village of Tide Head and all Rural areas within Restigouche County.

If you have lost your pet in any of the above areas, call the Restigouche County SPCA at the following number - 684-4396.  Have the following information ready in case you have to file a Lost Report:  Your pet's name, breed, age, gender, colouring, size and weight, collar and tag numbers, tatoos, microchip number and any scars or other distinguishing features.  We will need to know what area you pet was lost in and what date he/she went missing.

In the event that you feel that Restigouche County SPCA has found your pet, you will be expected to present yourself at the shelter to identify your pet.  Each animal control area is governed by a separate set of by-laws determining how long your pet will be held ranging from 3 days to 5 days.  After the assigned period of time for your area has elapsed, the animal then becomes the property of the Restigouche County SPCA so please make us your first call!
